Council Regulations for Garden Sheds
icon1 admin | icon2 Installation | icon4 09 29th, 2011| icon3Comments Off

Every council or building authority in Australia has its own rules and regulations when it comes to SHEDS whether it is Garden Sheds, Storage Sheds, Garages or Barns so it is always wise to check before you make a purchase.

Most council’s allow a garden shed up to 10 sq metres to be erected without a permit.

The most common shed size to fit this requirement is a 3m x 3m shed (9 square metres), but you can go bigger thanks to some clever thinking by the people at Durabuilt who make the EasySHED range.

Imagine having a bigger shed say 4.3m x 2.25m (9.6 square metres), this is possible using the EasySHED Truss Shed model 0404E 4.5m x 2.25m and making some simple adjustments.

All you need to do is cut (using a hacksaw or angle grinder), 235mm from the channels on the 4.5m side (4 wall channels and 4 roof channels and 235mm from the roof ridge beam), then overlap 1 rib in the front and back walls and the 2 roof panels and there you have it. A much bigger shed without the need for permit fees

This shed has the added strength of a truss frame and overlapping these wall panels will also add strength. Even better for the taller person you can chose to increase the wall height of this shed from 1.8m to 1.98m or even 2.10m for just a little extra!

Storm Shed

For several years now, customers have been asking us for a garden shed that would comply with the building regulations imposed in high wind areas of Australia, as up until now, there has been no garden shed on the Australian market that has been able to successfully meet these high standards.
Therefore, we are very pleased to announce the arrival of the revolutionary storm shed.

As the name suggests, StormSHED® has been designed to handle severe storm conditions and is engineered to Region D Category 2 Cyclonic wind conditions of 88m/sec (316kms per hour), when erected and anchored according to the instructions.

The Durabuilt StormSHED® is the FIRST GARDEN SHED IN AUSTRALIA to be rated to Region D Category 2 Cyclonic wind conditions!

StormSHED® comes in 3 sizes with 625 colour options (25 roof colours and 25 wall colours), giving your customer the widest range of colours available in the Australian shed market. Each shed comes complete with all parts and ground anchors.

The StormSHED® is suitable not just for the tropical north of Australia but in any location, particularly coastal locations, where stronger than normal wind speeds occur.

You can find our range of storm sheds by visiting the link below.

The modern world has led to many changes in the way we use our homes with traditional housing choices often not adapted to the layout of a modern family. Whereas previously, mothers and fathers would commute to work, the modern methods of work are increasingly changing to working from home, where a garden office can add more space and freedom to the home.
Work from home in many ways is a fight for working productively, on the kitchen table, or with a laptop balanced on knees on the couch. However all these environments are not conducive to a good job and should not be used as a long term solution when working from home.

As working from home increases so has the growing popularity of university courses in disciplines such as creative design, art and interior design. A desk and a computer is no longer a student needs to complete all their work during summer holidays when they return from university or other education.

For the 21st century family, garden offices are ideal for a variety of logistical problems. The lightweight and airy outside rooms are perfect for pre-college activities, and parents who work from home, the chance to work away from home – and enjoy the peace and quiet that accompanies it – while still being close to the home is a great combination.

Garden offices are an unbelievable addition to any outdoor space with a wide range of sizes available and custom built offices, families may consider a garden office larger size to accommodate two or more people working – it is an ideal solution for those who run a home business or families with a large number of children who want to use the garden office to complete college work or school work over the summer.

Big Business and Garden Sheds

bunnings-garden-shedsThis is my personal whinge about big business and in particular Bunnings.

Garden Sheds Online sell the same brands as Bunnings except for one. About 6 moths ago Bunnings took on anew range of garden sheds that they import from overseas. They are an inferior product that is incredibly hard to put together. From what I can tell the only reason they took on this range is because they could not compete on price with the Australian made garden sheds.

So thats my first gripe, such a large Australian company can’t keep up so they take there money overseas.

The other day I had a call from a lady who I assumed was a customer. I answered her numerous questions and then at the end of the call she told me she was from Bunnings in Labrador, QLD. Before I could ask her why she was calling an online store she hung up.

Two days later she called again with more questions. This time I asked her what was going on before I answered her questions. The lady proceeded to tell me that it was her job to price match garden sheds. A customer had been to the Bunnings store in  Brisbane with a quote from our website asking for a price match. Bunnings could not match the price because there margins are so high and she was ringing me to double check the details as they could not believe we were selling the garden shed so cheaply.

I was gob smacked. This person from a competing company had called so I could help her beat our price. Now don’t get me wrong, I was not abusive or angry in anyway to the above mentioned lady. She was just doing her job. But the arrogance of Bunnings to think I was going to help them to line there pockets.

The story gets worse. Later that day i was talking to the supplier of the garden shed in question and I told him the story.

He then went on to tell me that when Bunnings does a price match that the call there suppliers and make them wear the loss on the product. So basically due to there size and power they squeeze there suppliers to wear the price match. So all of the advertising that they do saying if were not cheaper we will beat it by 10 percent should really be -If were not cheaper our supplier will beat it by ten percent.

Now I know there will be many people that will read this and say so what I just want the cheapest product.

Well if you want the cheapest Garden Shed you better have a look at our website at www.gardenshedsonline.com.au because we are always cheaper than Bunnings.

I am that confident that we are always cheaper that if you can find the same shed from Bunnings that is cheaper than our website I will beat them by twenty percent. The only disclaimer is that the garden shed needs to be Australian made as Garden Sheds Online only supports Australian made products.

We also offer free delivery to the depot to over 80 locations Australia wide. Our prices are so competitive that we have recently been supplying garden sheds in bulk to Melbourne builders.

We have three main suppliers that have a huge range of Garden Sheds, Aviaries, Workshops and Carports.

If you are a builder in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney or Perth please feel free to contact us if you are looking for a bulk order. We can sometimes discount our prices even further for bulk orders.

Although Garden Sheds Online does not have a physical office in Sydney we do offer a large range of Garden Sheds, Carports, Workshops and Aviaries to the Sydney market. Not having a physical display is our largest advantage.

Due to only having to upkeep an online display of our garden sheds we can keep our overheads way down. This saving is then passed on to you the customer.

We offer free delivery to our depot which is located in Prestons. This includes our full range of products. Delivery time is 5 – 7 working days. Alternatively you can have your Garden Shed delivered to your door anywhere in Sydney for a nominal fee.

Durabuilt Sheds Cheaper than Bunnings
icon1 admin | icon2 General | icon4 01 15th, 2010| icon3Comments Off

About six months ago I did a post on how our Garden Shed prices compared to one of the large Retail outlets. The outlet in question was bunnings.

To view this post go here http://gardenshedsonline.com.au/blog/general/garden-sheds-cheaper-than-bunnings

Well I thought it was about time to update the post as some of the results are staggering to say the least. We have recently taken on the Durabuilt range of garden sheds and their quality and price is excellent to say the least.

One of the most popular shed sizes we sell is the humble 3m x 3m. Lets do the comparison.

Bunnings Garden Shed – 3m x 3m – $847.00

Garden Sheds Online – 3m x 3m – $687.50

Thats a massive saving of $159.50. Not only do you save that money but delivery time is about the same. Bunnings dont carry many Garden Sheds so they have to order them in just like everyone else.

The moral of the story is don’t always think the big guys have the best prices. SHop around and keep the savings in your own pocket
